'YHA Fixture Changes' Email Deluge
yhalogoblue.jpg'YHA Fixture Changes' Email Deluge
If
you have received large numbers of emails yesterday and today, 17 and 18 October, from 'YHA Web Manager' with the subject of 'YHA Fixture Changes' please ignore them.
When a fixture is amended in any way (time change, venue change, date change, etc.) the YHA Website has the facility to automatically send confirmation emails to both clubs involved in a fixture plus to the relevant Division Representative or Competition Organizer.
This autoemail system has not been fully working for a few years with emails being manually sent on to clubs and div reps by myself.
We have recently fixed the system so that it is once again fully automated, but it would appear that we still have some work to do.
We think that when we turned the system on again yesterday it has sent copies of all changes to fixtures from the start of the season to every club, not just to those clubs involved in a particular fixture.
We will turn the autoemail system off as soon as possible and find a solution.
Once again apologies if we have filled your inbox with large numbers of emails.
Until the system if fixed we will carry on sending out fixture amendment emails manually.

Thanks
Andy Pettigrew

EH AGM Resolution - Governance Review
eh_shield_blue.jpgEH AGM Resolution - Governance Review
At the England Hockey AGM in March 2017, a resolution to review the structures within the sport was put to the AGM and passed via a 98% majority. The AGM resolution read as follows:
“This resolution proposes that England Hockey review the sport's current governance structure across the country so that it provides the best opportunity to develop the sport; increasing participation levels and the chances of sustained success at national and international level while safeguarding participants and giving members the best possible experience in the 21st century”.

More below....

As outlined in our 2nd August website news article, the England Hockey Board has established a working group to manage the review and this group has appointed an independent consultant, Yvonne Barker from Yew Consulting, to undertake the consultation phase. Yvonne specialises in working with sports organisations.

To inform the review we want your views about the way in which hockey is currently run and managed at regional and county level and whether this meets the needs of players and clubs. We want to know if you feel that it currently works well or if improvements could be made and, if so, we want your thoughts and ideas on practical solutions.

Ahead of the consultation taking place, we would encourage you to discuss within your club, league, county or region what you think works well and where there is room for improvement or a need for change in order to feed into the consultation process.

Over the coming months there are two ways to provide feedback:

Online survey. This will be available from mid October to mid November 2017. The survey will be open to individuals and representatives of clubs, leagues, county and regional bodies to complete. If you want to receive a personal notification of the survey when it opens please provide your name, email address and organisation via AGM Resolution

Consultation meetings. These will take place in the last two weeks of November and will consider the feedback we have received from the survey, with a focus on exploring future options and finding workable solutions if issues have been raised. Clubs and associations wanting to attend the evening consultation meeting will be able to send a representative. Full details to be confirmed but dates and locations:

Wednesday 22 November – East Molesey, London
Thursday 23 November – Taunton, Somerset
Monday 27 November – Leeds, Yorkshire
Wednesday 29 November – Solihull, West Midlands
Thursday 30 November – Stansted, Essex

Spaces will be limited – any club/association wishing to reserve a place for their representative should email -email- with contact details.

Affiliation 2017/18: The affiliation window opens on 2nd October 2017 and closes promptly on 30th November 2017.
This year we have slightly changed the process to capture the different types of club members across the country.  When you log on to the portal you will see that there are three membership types.

a)         Club –League Members:  member who pays subs, plays leagues games or competitions
b)         Club-Affiliate Members: Back to Hockey, Walking Hockey, Pay as you go members or even juniors who only attend training
c)         Non-Club Based Affiliate Members: this is the members that the club does outreach work with e.g. Club School Links, Satellite clubs, Community activity, etc.

Please be aware not to record a player in more than none category, e.g. someone who plays Saturday League hockey and Back To Hockey.
If we could ask you to complete the affiliation process in this way it will provide us with an accurate picture of who is playing what, where.

Update: Consultation process on domestic League competitions
eh_shield_blue.jpgUpdate: Consultation process on domestic League competitions
Over the last twelve months England Hockey has been working with a group of clubs on the future of the highest levels of domestic hockey from a quality of delivery, financial sustainability and competition structure perspective.
No changes will be made until the 2019-20 season and therefore there are no implications for finishing positions for clubs in the 2017-18 season.
